At the lookout
I’m at the top of a mountain. The view’s nice but I feel like I should be doing something here.
Hint 2
There are a few items that you should gather while you’re at the lookout, some of which you brought with you.
Hint 3
Don’t forget to check the benches.
Answer
There’s a note and a key on the picnic table – take those. You should also take the battery and jumper cable back from the cable car, now that its battery has been recharged.
I tried walking down the path but that dang boulder is still in the way!
Hint 1
At least you’re in a better position to move it now.
Hint 2
You know, being above the boulder and all. Being able to push it down the hill.
Hint 3
It is a bit large heavy though, isn’t it? Some sort of leverage might make this task easier.
Answer
Use the closest log to the boulder and wedge it into position, then let ‘er rip!
The treehouse
I think I’m ready to deal with this treehouse situation now.
Hint 1
Are you sure? With all those locks and pulleys and whatnot?
Hint 2
Well you’re probably okay, since you definitely have three keys by now, right?
Hint 3
Still having some trouble with that mechanism on the tree?
Answer
You need three keys and their matching padlocks before you even begin to solve this puzzle. You’ve already found all the padlocks, but might not have picked them up!
Now onto the combination itself…
Hint 1
If you’ve been into the cave, you have the information you need.
Hint 2
Check the note you found near the body inside the entrance to the cave. It’s the page from a children’s story about little lion cubs.
Hint 3
In the story, the lion cubs are asked to count things around them. The first two numbers of the combination should be obvious from here.
Hint 4
The last number is the number of lions who tuck them in at night – one mommy and one daddy lion.
Answer
The combination is 4-7-2.
Great, but the numbers refuse to “stick”
Hint 1
You’ve got both pieces of information you need to solve this puzzle: a set of locks and keys, and a number.
Hint 2
When you pull on the rope, the pulleys reset.
Hint 3
But when the pulleys are locked in place, they don’t reset upon pulling the rope
Answer
Set each pulley to its correct position (4-7-2), and then lock each in place. Then pull the rope.
I got into the treehouse! Now what?
Hint 1
That’s great! Take some time looking around the place. There are important pieces of information everywhere.
Hint 2
Don’t forget to check upstairs! Oooh spooky.
Answer
Take the treasure map off the wall, and the hand-held radio from the shelf. There’s also a note in the treehouse and a book upstairs. And pay close attention to the drawings on the walls: they’re all the same
Inside the cave
What the hell, there’s a door in here?
Hint 1
A very specific, cryptic looking door, isn’t it?
Hint 2
Okay, that wasn’t helpful, I accept that.
Hint 3
Fine, fine! You can turn those stone dials all you want, but it looks like the door is missing one.
Answer
Follow the treasure map you found in the treehouse. (Details in part 2)
Back in the cabin
You say “Back in the cabin” like it’s nothing, but there’s no way back inside!
Hint 1
Yes there is. But it’s not the same way you left.
Hint 2
Go round to the left side of the cabin, there’s a basement entrance there.
Answer
Use the hammer you found inside the barn to break open the chains on the basement entrance.
Answer 2
At this stage you can try to get the radio working again – you should have everything you need. (More in part 2)
