Lower cave
I made it into the lower chamber of the cave, but can’t figure out what’s going on here! How about a few general hints?
Hint 1
Sure! Start with the rotting dead body by the wall. Search near it as well.

That strange wooden device is definitely going to need some attention.

By now you might want to consider repairing the radio in the cabin. You can do it later, but now is a decent time to get on that.
Are there any instructions for using this weird wooden device?

First thing’s first: you need to collect the “hoop” from the dead body nearby.
Hint 2

If you haven’t assembled the oculus yet, now’s a good time to do that (consider the small metal hoop you found near the body).

The oculus sure does look a bit like a magnifying glass, doesn’t it?

Use the oculus on the treasure map. It will reveal hidden instructions!
What should I do with this hoop?
Hint 1
The hoop you found was near pieces of broken glass.
Hint 2
It probably once held glass in its center.
Hint 3
You should have an item that contains just the piece of glass you could fit into the hoop.
Hint 4
Don’t have a clue? You might’ve missed an item up at the lookout.
Answer
Use your pocketknife on the binoculars you found up at the lookout (on the bench nearest the cable car’s landing deck). Then take the lens you removed from the binoculars and insert it into the hoop.
I’ve found the secret instructions for the device, but I can’t understand them!
Hint 1
The red line and mass indicate power, or electricity. You’re trying to arrange a series of nails on the device in the correct positions.
Hint 2
There are three patterns – blue, green, and red – which match the the three colours on the wooden device.
Hint 3
Follow the shape of the patterns in the secret instructions, where the X-marks represent nails.
Answer
Arrange the nails as follows: Working from the bottom-left up to top-right, 3rd and 7th on red; 1st, 4th and 5th on blue; 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th on green. When the nails have been arranged correctly, a visual prompt to attach the jumper cables will appear. Make sure that you attach the motorcycle battery as well, which you might need to retrieve from the radio in the cabin.
I’ve made contact with… someone (something?) through the device. It wants some sort of incantation.
Hint 1
All the incantation components are in the tomb you found nearby.
Hint 2
Bear in mind that the runes on the stone dials, the nail arrangement, and this incantation, are read from bottom to top.
Hint 3
Some of the English translations in the tome might not be correct, but there’s a consistency and pattern to the pronunciation nonetheless.

Speak to Mary on the radio. She might need some time to find the information you need, but she’s your only link back home. Don’t forget to bring the battery with you when you come back – you’ll need it to power the device!
