The treasure hunt
I found this kooky treasure map in the treehouse, but I’m going to need some help solving this fiendish puzzle because I never made treasure maps as a child and/or have zero spatial thinking ability and/or am simply too lazy to deal with this damn map.
Hint
That’s okay, let’s go through this together…
Step 1
The map starts at the treehouse.
Step 3
Turn to face the lake, now walk along the edge of the mountain, past the wooden sled (YAY). Keep going until you reach a spooky looking tree.
Step 4
Find the black stones arranged in an arrow, and follow the dotted line of black stones until you reach three stones, at the lake.
Step 5
Turn to your left and LOOK towards the L-shaped tall brown rocks.
Step 6
Walk past the L-shaped rocks until you find a fallen log with stones piled up against its side.
Step 7
Uncover your treasure! Take what you can and leave the rest to the annals of time.
At the cave door
Now I’ve got the missing dial, but I can’t figure out this thing. Walk me through it, please.
Hint 1
This is a complex one, so let’s take it slow and try to understand it. First, put the missing dial into place on the door.
Hint 2
You have a sequence of five runes, but how to use these in the context of the stone dials?
Hint 3
The dials are arranged so that the runes form a vertical shape when connected.
Hint 4
Five runes, but only four dials.
Hint 5
The runes are split across the dials, starting from the center and moving upwards/outwards, forming a single shape.
Answer 1
The inner-most dial has the “sickle” rune. Set that to the top-center position.
Answer 2
Set the next dial to the shape that combines the top of the “T” rune with the bottom of the “upside-down T” rune.
Answer 3
The next dial combines the top of the “upside-down T” rune with the bottom of the “U”.
Answer 4
The outer-most dial must be set to the top of the “U” rune and the bottom of the “double-I” rune.
Repairing the radio
I’m back inside the cabin: is it time to repair the radio yet?
Hint 1
Yes! You’re going to need a power source first.
Hint 2
You should retrieve the battery and jumper cables you used at the cable car.
Hint 3
Once you’ve hooked up the battery, you’ll find that the radio is missing a vital internal component.
Hint 4
Read the repair manual that’s just need to the radio – it will tell you what you need.
Hint 5
You did take the hand radio from the treehouse, right? The EZ-B16 model hand radio?
Hint 6
The repair manual states that a computer chip used in the EZ-B16 model hand radio is compatible with the ham radio. Now you just need to find a way to dismantle the hand radio.
Hint 7
You already have an item that is quite suited for dismantling devices like the hand radio.
Answer
Use the pocketknife in your inventory on the hand radio. Then insert the GBAti chip onto the ham radio’s circuit board.
I’ve repaired the radio, but can’t seem to make contact with anyone!
Hint 1
As you’ve probably already discovered, you need to set the radio to the correct frequency and mode.
Hint 2
Check your collected notes: you should have already found the one which contains the information you need.
Hint 3
It’s the “Welcome to Williamsburg” page you found on the picnic bench at the lookout.
Hint 4
Bottom-left of that page, where it says “Farmer’s Watch”.
